The seven bridges which cross the South Saskatchewan River have earned Saskatoon its nickname of «The city of bridges». An ambitious project to develop a system of pathways are now allowing Saskatonians and tourists to discover the natural beauty of their river. Over 60 kilometers of paved and hard packed surfaces run along both banks of the river and are embellished by esplanades, pavilions, an amphitheatre, sculptures, interpretative panels, a pedestrian bridge as well as an impressive water play feature for children representing the basin of the South Saskatchewan River. Just like the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa or the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec, Saskatoon has its landmark, the Bessborough hotel. |
