In July 2009, we boarded the Lyubov Orlova for a 12-day cruise along the Newfoundland and Labrador coasts going from St. John's to Kuujjuaq. Cruise North's Spirit Mountains cruise proved to be a fascinating trip which allowed us to relive different eras of Newfoundland's history namely the Vikings sagas, the Basque fishing episode, the dismantling of hundreds of coastal villages in the years 1960s then the moratorium on the fishing industry in the years 1990s.
